Following a well-earned weekend off this week, we set off on our travels for the long trip to Barrow and then the much longer trip to Toronto!
Sunday 30th April sees the Blues in Cumbria in the League 1 semi against Cup favourites Barrow Raiders.
Four days later the long awaited transatlantic adventure begins when our boys depart for Toronto on Thursday morning for the inaugural competitive match in Kingstone Press League 1.
The game is on Saturday May 6th and will be aired live on Premier Sports at 21.30 UK time. The Toronto Wolfpack side with their high quality squad have bulldozed their way to the league leader’s spot and their experienced team look good to keep a vice like grip on that position for the season. The Blues are the first travelling team and will be producing some sound bites to be aired on Radio 1’s Newsbeat on the Monday after returning and BBC Oxford are sending a traveling reporter with the team to cover the boys on the road.
From all the fans and supporters in Oxfordshire, a message of good luck goes out to the young Blues squad to enjoy the experience and give it your best. The boys will be given a message of friendship and goodwill to the city of Toronto from the Oxford Lord Mayor Altaf Khan to help mark another first for Oxford RL and being part of such a historical rugby league occasion. The city officials, the RFL and undoubtedly the whole of the rugby league family will wish you well and know you young lads will do the game proud! Safe journey boys!
C’mon the Blues!
